I remember hearing of a band called Oingo Boingo back in 1993. Like a week later this movie was on CityTV and I was like......wow! What a coincidence! Later I found out Danny Elfman (who's scores I like) was the lead singer. I got all the CD's I could find after that. 1996 I bought this movie on VHS. Love Oingo Boingo, a great band, and very cool that they appear in a Rodney film! Cheers. Any fans have any concert stories?
I like Oingo Boingo, they are an awesome band, they sang their song "Dead Man's Party" at the party, they rock, I still like all their music, there song "Weird Science is still one of my other favorite songs from them, they played that song in the beginning and the end of the 1985 movie "Weird Science".
Danny Elfman, the lead singer of Oingo Boingo" is incredible, he has done lots of music composing for film and tv, as a matter of fact,he did the misic for "Back to School" and "Batman" and "Batman Returns", and many other feature films. I like the music he did for "The Simpsons".
I saw Oingo Boingo over 20 times starting from 1982 to their last shows in 1994. They always put on a tight, energetic, and entertaining show. They were truly a band of their time in in the 80's.
Wow, dude! I am so jealous. I only got into them in 1992 and they broke up 2 years later....I live in Canada so it is harder to get to LA. to see them live.....don't know if they ever hit Toronto. I heard (don't know if it's true) that Danny Elfman is stage fright and he hates performing live. Also I read he didn't want the Dinosaur effect to envelope the band. Are you a big fan? What is your favourite album? I like Dead Man's Party and Dark at the End of the Tunnel. I hope they return for a reunion, I would cut off my pinky finger to see them live! Cheers.
Boingo (which was always their nickname, until they officially shortened it just before the end) was always one of my favorite bands. I saw them twice on their yearly Halloween shows out in LA, and they were excellent!
It's because of my love for Boingo that I made the transition to loving everything Danny Elfman does, espcially his movie scores and vocal appearances (such as the singing voice of Jack Skellington from "A Nightmare Before Christmas" and ALL of the singing voices of the Oompaloompas in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory").
How come I've read several places on here that Danny Elfman did the music for Back To School and IMDb even says he won some award for the movie's music, but IMDb credits original music to Peter D. Kaye and the theme to Richard Wolf? Unless Peter D. Kaye is a fake name Elfman worked under.

The opening music, when they're showing the old photographs, is definitely Elfman. That style is his: compare to the Simpson's theme song. Don't know about the pseudonym; maybe he used different names back when he had his band.
If you are a Boingo fan like I am, then you'll want to sit through Tom Hank's Bachelor Party! One of his early works, and one I'm sure he'd like to forget. A fun, silly movie full of testosterone and alchohol. Oingo Boingo does a GREAT song called "Something Isn't Right", which for legal reasons NEVER appeared on any OB album. I first heard it on KROQ back in the 80's, and when I couldn't find it at Tower Records (using their state-of-the-art song/album/artist-finding computer) I called up the radio station (this is YEARS before Email) and just asked them! The soundtrack to Bachelor Party is still out there, as is KROQ! If you like New Wave music in general, check out Ultimate 80s.com; they have a streaming radio station hosted by (you guessed it) Richard Blade.
Boingo is the only reason i wasted my time on this movie. it was mostly a painful experience, but worth it for the pure awesome of Danny's face sudden;y appearing on screen! They promiced the best college party ever, and they sure got it! I love it when all the cops run in armed with beer. Finally, i said, movie realism :P
Oingo Boingo should be put to rest and buried forever, never to be unearthed, as with all the other wretchedly bad, synthetic bands of the 1980s. Gutless, synthy pop music like theirs sent American pop/rock music spiralling downwards with a fierceness from which it has yet to recover.
Oingo Boingo is the reason I watched this movie in the first place. I adore Danny Elfman, and Oingo Boingo. So it's only natural that I would waste 2 hours of my time to see 2 minutes of them. Only this time it wasn't a waste. I liked this movie. The Eflman score helps a lot, and Rodney Dangerfeild is always great.
I quite agree. The crappy synth-pop bands of the '80s were horrible. I loathed them.

Yeah Oingo Boingo was great back in the mid to late 80's! I remember listening to their music at that time. I agree it was great to see them in this movie.
I was born the year they split up. Heard about the band after becoming a fan of Danny Elfman's film scores. I found this film because of Elfman and Boingo, and thought it sounded good. Really enjoyed it, and the band performing DMP was an added bonus.
I remember the band back in the 80's, but wasn't a fan of that type of sound back then. I was much more into rock & metal. It wasn't until the early 90's that I started appreciating those new wave type bands from the 80's.
