My curiosity is that I wonder why E True Hollywood Story has not done a 2 hour thing on this show yet! The reason why I say that is because it has the contraversy on this show!
You have Valerie Harper fighting with NBC on a pay increase for the show. The network instead of giving into her decides to kill off her character in a car accident.
You have Sandy Duncan step in and the show changes its name more than once with its different titles! Does anyone else agree with me on this? The reason why I say it should be on E True Hollywood Story is because I have asked people on other boards why they have not done a E True Hollywood Story on this show or that show and they tell me well there was not that many drama while the show was on the air to dig up dirt on it.
I feel E should do a True Hollywood Story on this show! Does anyone else agree with me on this?
The problem with what you propose is that the show itself isn't too popular. It rarely gets aired in syndication and no DVD release has happened... not yet at least. I'd love to see such a special plus interviews and insights, etc. but, unfortunately, the show took a nosedive in the writing once Valerie was canned and it became a show whose caliber was typical of other Miller/Boyett productions such as "Full House" and "Family Matters". Because of this, it's hardly ever on the radar of the viewing audience and I don't think E! would feel it'd be worth their investment to make such a special. If one does ever occur, however, I'd love to see it...
I know what you are saying guy but Full House is in syndication and so was Family Matters as well. I mean right now Full House is shown on ABC Family and Nick@Nite right now.
Family Matters is show on ABC Family at the moment and it is just a matter of time before it pops up on Nick@Nite. Those two shows were very popular Miller/Boyett shows that was on ABC.
I would love to see a special done and it is sad that Valerie did not receive its recognition that it should have and I have to agree with you that after they fired her the show did go down but I still loved watching the show even after she left.
I hope eventually they will have a DVD box set for Valerie/Hogan Family/The Hogans. I would love that very much and more than likely by the time they do put it out on DVD I will be finally married and starting a family I hate to say it.
I am 35 years old now and never been married and still single. It is possible that it could come out when I have grandchildren. LOL
I know this already guy that both Family Matters and Full House started on ABC! What you tend to forget is that ABC has another station called ABC Family. Yes I know that Family Matters was cancelled by ABC and then went to CBS because I use to watch the show from the time it was on ABC and until they cancelled the popular show.
Like I have stated they wer very popular shows that Mller/Boyett did that was shown on ABC!
I am not dumb ok so you should not be using those terms on me. You should be a little more respectful to people on the boards.
I am glad that you think that making this into a documentary is a great idea! Well if you look at it the TV show had things going on since it started and the title to the show changed several times.
You had the show called Valerie and then to The Hogans, and then The Hogan Family. I know that when Valerie Harper was on the show it was a disagreement on money on what she was making. I noticed that she was killed off on the show. Then Sandy Duncan checked onto the show. She remained on there until the show ended but not where it started at.
What I mean is for some reason NBC sold or traded to CBS was The Hogan Family and Unsolved Mysteries also. I stopped watching the show after it switched to CBS because they placed it in a time slot that was when another show I loved to watch on another network. This show had some contraversey in it.
I think it would make a great documentary because it is simply a great story - juicy and it's about Hollywood.
Plus, there is tons of footage from that era. What would be the Holy Grail would be finding footage of the episode that Valerie Harper shot (apparently) for the third season before she was fired. I think that would seal the deal.
Current interviews would be great, too. But I presume the parties have a clause forbidding them to speak about it.
Yes it would be interesting to see all right. I am sure they do have a clause in their contract that they cannot say certain things. Yeah it would be good to see the last footage of season 3 before they fired Valerie Harper.
The only person who is still busy is Jason Bateman. I did see one of the actors who played the smartest one of the twins on Swamp Thing.
