Laugh Track

Wow, you would think that removing the laugh track was a good thing.
Unfortunately it is painfully obvious that the actors have been directed to pause for 'laugh-track moments' as the flow of each episode is terrible.
There is nothing as unfunny as a well scripted witty come-back delivered with absolutely no (insert laugh-track here) timing.

I quite liked it. I mean, it's pretty hammy anyway: that just adds to it (all right, I confess, I didn't even notice the pauses, but don't tell anyone).

Actually you are wrong, it was orginaly recoreded with no laugh track. Even Alan mentions as much on the DVDs. The laugh track was orginaly put on when Alan didn't want one...which is why it's removed on the DVD.

I'm sorry but I don't quite understand your reply to my posting.

The original series aired with a laugh-track.
The actors (as in most comedies) do pause and 'mug' for the camera when a laugh-track moment appears.
Whether or not Alan Spencer wanted the over-dubbed laugh-track is not my point. There was a laugh-track.
Now when you remove the laugh-track, the actors look foolish pausing and mugging and the flow of the episode is slightly off.
Comic timing is everything in comedy.

My comment was posted because, unlike you, I minded the pauses. Now how that would relate to my knowledge of comedy - I have no idea.
You and coherence don't get along, do you?
