I've been trying to think of which TV series it is, and think it might be Sledge Hammer! The main character gets a new car, and it has a voice (i.e., "Your door is ajar," etc.) He spends a good portion of the episode trying to find the woman who recorded the voice of the car. Please, someone tell me I'm not crazy, and this is the right show! :-)
I recently watched the entire run of Sledge Hammer!, and there is no episode even remotely close.
I do think I have seen what you are talking about, but have no idea what show.
