Still no movie?

Just watched the 2 seasons again (great show).
And there is a possible movie in there. You could not get away with the stuff Sledge does in todays TV world, but a movie does give you a little more freedom.
Alan has said he would like to do a movie. David has said so, as has Anne-Marie. Not sure what Harrion has said on the matter. The fans want it.

So the main stars want it, the creator wants it and the fans want it.
So what is stopping them?

I think Spencer wanted the original cast (and I don't blame him) but the studios didn't. Sounded to me like they might have been interested in bringing back Sledge Hammer! in a manner that would not be true to the orignal show (in which case I ask: "what's the point?")

Wait a minute... who am I here?

Alan owns exlcusive rights to SH, he even says as much on the DVDs.
Which means he can take the concept anywhere he likes, he is not tied to any 1 studio.
So you are saying not 1 studio in Hollywood likes the idea of having the original cast back?

A critically aclaimed show, a big fan favourite, millions of fans worldwide. ALL the original cast would do it, but no one in Hollywood will touch it...but they'll knock out yet another Saw film?

The "suits" at Hollywood are not that stupid...are they?

If you're actually asking me, I'd answer with a great, big "YES". I believe they really are that stupid.

I agree with you - the studios are insane. I think a lot of people would pay to see a Sledge Hammer! movie with the original cast reunited.

And don't get me started on Saw...

WOW,that's great! The ENTIRE cast would come back! That would be fantastic and the only way you could really do it.

But Rasche would be around 60 by now HOWEVER Nielsen was still making VERY funny movies in his 70s so Rasche could do it!!

We could still see a sequel here if the stupid studios would get off their butt!

To be honest, I do not wanna see a Sledge Hammer movie or a next Gen Sledge Hammer.
Sledge Hammer is Sledge Hammer, the way we all know it. And it should stay there. Any attempt to do it over or making a movie of it would kill it. Just leave it as it is.
Noone can replace Anne-Marie Martin or David Rasche, it just wouldnt feel right. From all the actors nowadays, I cant place anyone of em in those roles and be just as convincing as they were.

Hypothetically all the original actors could come back. I'm sure they're all alive. Dorrie and Sledge had great chemistry together.

I know it's very unrealistic to think any studio would take a chance on such old actors for 20+ year old series.

But if some rich dude with money to burn is a Sledge fan they could fund it! LOL

Where the hell's the movie?

It seems obvious that no studio would let Alan have full control, what a massive shame, to not take a little risk and let Alan have his original cast back and make what he wanted is a joke really as these studios waste so much on crap that no one asked for and makes a loss...

Sledge Hammer! has a big following round the world and a lowish budget movie would have been a massive success imo, sadly the time has probably passed now...Hollywood ragweeds!

Just heard an interview where he confirms he's having talks, but it's safe to say studios would want movie stars.
