A question about Malfeitor and the house?

I just watched this film again for the first time in years. I still like it. But What's puzzled me this time around is near the end when Jim was discussing the crimes of Malfeitor with that woman she showed him a picture of Malfeitors house. Was that house the same house that Jim and Linda were living in? It looked like it could have been the same house as the one in the picture. And if it was that house that Malfeitor lived in, are we to asssume that's how he came to surface in the movie? Or did Malfeitor have some connection to the ouija board as well?

Yes Malfeitor lived in the same house and had a connection to it.

The woman explained it to Jim that Carlos Malfeitor was shot in the house( which became an apartment building). I always believed that he became the dominant spirit of Brandon's board once it was brought into Jim's apartment. Brandon even confirmed it with David when he and Jim traveled to Big Bear and talked to David using the blue Ouija board, "is this spirit powerful, did it force you out if Jim's apartment?", to which David answered " yes". I thought it was a great plot twist to have them being subject to Malfeitor in that apt the entire movie.
