Maybe I'm just too used to everyone having perfectly capped teeth in movies nowadays but both Bill Paxton & Robert Downey Jr's teeth are very distracting in this movie.

Agreed! Thank god for cosmetic dentistry or imagine what we'd have to look at today!

Regarding Bill's teeth, they aren't perfect but I think they were made to look worse with some kind of makeup or prosthetics for his character.

Nah, both he and RDJ used to have gaps between their front teeth, which they both got fixed shortly after this film.

A frontal gap is classically a sign of lechery, which worked for these characters.
