Lisa threatening that boy's folks with a gun

OK, as much as I like this movie, I have to be honest here, the part were Lisa threatens the parents of one character into letting him come out by pointing a gun straight at them does kind of unsettle me a little. It kind of makes me wonder just what the film's makers are advocating here.

It was unsettling to see bras on heads instead of on tits...or off tits.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

i suppose with people like YOU it wouldnt matter one bit to point out that in the next scene it turned out to be only a watergun for god's sakes! would it? it doesn't make a damn bit of difference!

I could see how this was unsettling for you... you see, this was a COMEDY shot at a point in American history where everyone wasn't whiny püssïes who complained about their "feelings" and a never-ending need for safe zones. We actually understood that Wile E. Coyote was fictional and strapping rockets to your back was not a good idea.

I feel bad for your over-protected kids.

(It was a Dirty Harry reference, they did it for the lulz, no need to over-analyze the sh*t) LOL

I think the fact that the use of creating a real missile from an image was alluding to the post war arms race that took place right after the cold war...and that the naked lady that flew out of the chimney was a personification of the US's withdrawal from vietnam...the biker gang...obviously an allusion to political strife in nicaragua at the time...obviously...i mean this film is rife with political satire and commentary ...or its just something to laugh at while youre stoned..wait...now that im thinking about how deep im thinking about the movie..i think its just that

It's an over the top escalation intended for comedic effect - a sort of dangerous and rough humour common in the era. One thing I've noticed is that it doesn't seem to serve much of a purpose in moving the story along - Gary's parents are given amnesia allowing him to go to the party, which could have just happened without the gun pointing anyway.
