Can't Find a DVD? HP Will Make It

I read this article and immediately thought of Trancers or Future Cop as it’s known locally. I was wondering if anyone knows what studio holds the rights for it.

"Hewlett-Packard has signed a deal with Sony Pictures to turn out DVDs from the studio's library whenever customers request them, the Los Angeles Times reported today (Thursday). The deal will allow consumers to order movies that ordinarily would not be stocked by dealers because they are too obscure or too old. HP indicated that it expects to sign similar deals with other studios. "We're hoping this provides another option to make available products that wouldn't necessarily garner widespread retail shelf space," Jason Spivak, head of strategic development at Sony Home Entertainment, told the Times.Added Doug Warner, head of HP's digital content business, "If studios can sell more catalog than previously, they can generate more money."

Full Moon releases the only known DVD, but I think the movie might be public domain. If not, MGM owns it, but they haven't done crap.

You can get the complete Trancers Box set from www.fullmoondirect.com it has all 5 Trancer movies in it. I have the set, the quality is ok at best, not remastered it looks like a copy of a VHS tape and a old one at that.

And with a video stutter near the beginning of Trancers. Almost unwatchable on DVD.

I doubt it would be public domain. Most of Empire's catalogue is owned by MGM.

I have the Trancers DVD and if you watch all the way to the end of the credits, it flickers, then the screen turns blue and it says in white letters "END OF SIDE 2".!!! I laughed my ass off. That would mean that they probably just ran a copy of off laserdisc. Not sure if they changed it or not, but check your DVD to see if it does the same.
