Boom Mic.

I've always loved this movie.. but how in the heck could they miss that shot of the boom mic at around the 1:02 mark? I've never seen a movie where so much of the mic is visible for so long.. it's hilarious!!! It could have been easily edited out.

It's highly likely that the boom was intentionally ignored because it's outside the safe margin for 1:85:1, which Trancers was shot for. Just a shame they didn't keep the 4x3 release in mind, especially as it's the only transfer available to us. :(

I want a remastered widescreen version!

Great point. I didn't think of that.

I'm watching this right now and just noticed that, too.

The aspect ratio is a good point, though. I've been in theaters watching a movie and started seeing loads of boom mikes entering the shots. When I saw "Way of the Gun" I thought it was just *beep* filmmaking. Later my friend who worked for a movie theater clued me in to the whole "safe zone" thing.

Later I was watching "Bend It Like Beckham" in a small theater and I saw a bunch of boom mikes in the shots, so I went out and told the guy at the front counter. "Oh, *beep* he said, and ran off. I went back to my seat, saw the image bump up onscreen a little bit, and never saw another boom mike.

Incidentally, "Trancers" is great! So entertaining ... can't believe I haven't seen it until now.

Because the film is finally in its correct aspect ratio. Six-years-ago me would be stoked to find out that I would have the film on Blu-ray by now.

If you're asking "Did anyone else notice?", the answer is yes.
