1947 'Lady in the Lake' connection?

In "Trancers" there's a character called "Chris Lavery" that runs a tanning salon.

Jack Deth meets up with Lavery to try to save his life since Lavery is the ancestor to one of the Chairmen of Angel City in the 2240s.

Upon meeting Lavery, Deth comments; "nice tan, real Christmasy", just like Robert Montgomery does when he meets the well tanned character Chris Lavery (Dick Simmons) in "Lady in the Lake" from 1947.

I've always wondered what the connection for Charles Band or some of the writers of Trancers that they wanted to pay homage to a less than well known Phillip Marlowe movie.

I should have asked CB when I saw him at a Full Moon Road Show recently, but it completely slipped my mind.

Anyone know something about this tidbit of movie trivia?

I can't answer your question, but I AM very interested to read that bit of trivia, because I am a film noir fan, and "Lady in the Lake" has some interesting effects.

Actually way back in the Eighties when I watched a rental tape of "Trancers" I decided to make it a Double Feature and put in a tape of "Lady in the Lake", which I had recorded of TV a couple of days earlier. Imagine my surprise when I heard the same line again just an hour later! What are the odds? I always figured the writers just loved Film Noir and slipped in a few references to the classics. Isn't "McNulty" the name of a cop in "Farewell my Lovely" with Robert Mitchum? There are probably more nods to old school detective stories in "Trancers"....

You're probably thinking of the character Det. Lt. Nulty.

On the Retrospective featurette that's included on the Blu-Ray, writers Danny Bilson and Paul DeMeo do confirm the Lady in the Lake connection.

well this is rather bizarre.
I happen to be watching Trancers on El Rey after deciding that id leave my parents while they watch Lady in the Lake on TCM. Both movies started at 8pm.
Curious about the age difference between Helen Hunt and Tim Thomerson, i make my way to imdb and thats when i see this topic
Is this merely a coincidence, or synchronicity?
This usually happens to me a few times a month, but its the first time its crossed beyond my immediate view. I will be watching a movie on one screen then a related topic pops up on my second monitor or tablet.
Has this happened to anyone else?
