Bad editing?

I was recently very excited to see all of the Toxic Avenger series pop up on Comcast's free on demand service. So the other day I watched the Toxic Avenger and was a bit disappointed and confused by some editing that someone did. Most notably, they cut out the scene where the kid on the bike gets his head popped, a few others that I can definately remember are the scene at the end where the mayor gets his guts ripped out and the scene in the fast food joint where the guy gets his arm ripped off and when they show the guy's hands going into the deep fryer. These are some of my favorite scenes and I was upset that they cut them out. However, they did leave in the scene in the gym when the drug dealer (who very much resembles my uncle) gets his smashed by the weight machine. As the movie still carried a TV-MA rating (if i remember correctly) does anyone know whay some of these scenes would be edited out? From what I know of Troma films, I do not think they would have had anything to do with it.

When they showed the Troma movies on USa network they were edited too. I have the directors cut dvd with all the violence.

That's odd, because when they showed 'Toxie' on the G4 channel just a while ago they kept all the gore in (head crushings, disemboweling, arm rips, etc.). However, when the same channel showed 'Toxie 4' later on, they edited out almost all of the gore.

I guess it varies from channel to channel and editor to editor.

ya, it just seemed weird that they left some gore and "boobies" in and not others. I think that when comcast puts a movie on the free on demand channel a tv channel kind of sponsers it or whatever, so i guess it was their decision.

I just watched this version on Comcast On Demand and was extremely disappointed; I hadn't seen the film in 20 years. They left the tits in (which is fine), but cut out the majority of the gore.

It rendered the film pointless - the gory scenes are the comic payoffs. As a result the film wasn't even that funny; in fact it was simply dull.

I don't understand the cuts; Comcast presented this film as part of its FearNet and I haven't noticed cuts from other horror films shown this way.

Stuck in purgatory.

i had recently gotten into the movies and ive been trying to find them used, and i was so excited to see all four on comcast, but then the boy was just hit by the car, and the guy at the restaurant didnt get his arm ripped off, it was just one disappointment after another!
