Some people compare the killing of an animal (particularly domestic pets) to the killing of kids when on film....well, both happen in this movie, and I must say the image of the kid getting his head run over stuck with me far longer than the dog getting shot, and I prefer animals much more to children lol. Really, people feel an animal is defenseless and completely innocent, which is the case, however, it's the same case with the child on the bike, but fewer people may have as much sympathy. Why? Because it's a person and not a pet. Imagine if it was the dog getting rundown (twice) and the child getting shot....which would get more attention? Plus, the dog killing was campy in execution and looked/felt fake in comparison to the child's death. Sure, a lot looks fake in this film, but this film gets away with it under the grind-house guise, which adds to the entertainment. Think of the aftermath as well: The dog still breathing with fake spaghetti guts on top of it was a bit less effective than two hot chicks running up to a child's crushed head and taking pictures of it, to which one of them masturbates to later....
Yea, people are dumb.
