Jimmie Buffet song was cool at the end

I really liked the song at the end. I think it was called "Turning Around" by Jimmie Buffet. I wander how Jimmie Buffet became involved with doing a song for this particular movie. I know he loves the beach and the beach lifestyle, and I also know that he likes Florida. Maybe this had something to do with it. Does anyone know any details about this song and how it came about to be played while the ending credits roll.

yes, that should have been a chart hit, but it wasn't. Actually, the singles charts were never too kind to Jimmy Buffett for some strange reason, although he is mega popular. The same thing happened to a somewhat lesser extent with Pat Benatar and Journey.

Jimmy Buffett could have just been sought by the makers of the film to do a song for it, because of that beach lifestyle reputation.

It was a nice little 80s diddy. I found, in retrospect, there were a LOT of great songs to come out in the 80s that never hit the charts. That doesn't make them any less great, though.

Jimmy Buffett's own admission was that he came right out and asked for "it" in a certain song instead of beating around the bush (unintended but appropriate pun) like in other songs of the day. For the longest time, he was unable to sing the song's chorus in public and referred to it as "A Love Story (from a Different Point of View)"; of course, the actual name is "Why Don't We Get Drunk" which is rather tame by today's standards.

I'm not a Buffett fan at all but I do love this song. It puts me in a better mood whenever I'm having a crappy day.

"Why Don't We Get Drunk" was the B-side of "The Great Filling Station Hold-Up" 45. On the jukebox strip for it instead of the song title, there was a picture of a screw. That jukebox strip shows up every once in a while on eBay.
