Best John Candy Film Ever
I like this movie better than any other movie. I love it when the underdog wins

shareR U serious??? u bumped ur head...Uncle Buck is def. the best john candy movie ever...sorry
BUMP
Geez he's been in some great ones, I'll have to say a tie between Uncle Buck, and Planes, Trains & Automobiles.
Here are some other good ones he's been in:
Summer Rental
The Great Outdoors
Stripes
Armed & Dangerous
Spaceballs
Nat'l Lampoon's Vacation (small role)
Actually I love the Great Outdoors as much as my top two picks.
In God WWE Trust
The Candyman made Brewster's Millions.
shareI agree with the OP. This is my favorite John Candy movie too!
I'm sorry, I'm from Wisconsin. Is that the same as gettin' a lot?
I love this movie and rated it a 10. However, I must say I do believe that both "Planes, Trains, and Automobilies" and "Uncle Buck" are better John Candy movies. Maybe even Only the Lonely. Summer Rental is close though.
shareI love this movie too! John Candy best role as a family man and I think the only movie where he plays a dad. Uncle Buck is awesome, but his just learning to be a family guy...
shareHe plays a family guy in the great outdoors, which I think is like the superior version of this movie
^^^ This. His character in Summer Rental was just too annoying.

no one improv'd (sometimes under his breath) like Candy.. I love his line at the first 415 Beach Lane property (when the owners arrive): "what is this--one of those time-sharing places?".. another is on the beach, when his cooler is leaking all over people: "the thing broke off -- I'm waiting for a part from Minneapolis."
I think the great ensemble cast made this his best film, although Uncle Buck is a close second. in both, Candy has a priceless 'everyman' quality, and he stands up to bullies for his family. but the funny scenes abound - the drama is never too dark.
I've always maintained that Hollywood has never replaced John Candy, and the comedy genre has sunk to breath-taking lows, partly as a result.

I like it (Especially the bear scene... that bear hopping up and down on the door with Candy underneath brings me to tears every time) but my vote for best Candy movie goes to Uncle Buck.

Not even close. Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Brewster's Millions and Spaceballs, just to name a few, blow this one away.
sharethis is a poor movie. terribly edited, no good laughs written in the script. The first half of the movie the director was just relying on john candy to save him with ad-libs. They conned john candy with this one. I loved him but this is one of his worst movies.
