This seemed very odd in the film for the lynch mob townspeople to have two Great Dane dogs (like Scooby Doo) be searching for the wolf...I would have thought the production company would have used a common dog to find the trail...like maybe a bloodhound or something.
Any one find that strange??

My husband said the same thing, so I did some googling. Apparently they used to be used to hunt boar, so there's some precedent.
I just thought of it as, in the townspeople's mind, "I am going to hunt this monster/person down. I have big dogs and dogs are good at hunting things (I think, right?). I'll take my dogs with me and we'll catch the bast*rd."

I have a friend who does search and rescue with her rough collies. An acquaintance of mine has a Toy Fox Terrier trained to find human remains. Dogs are remarkable creatures.
