Question....

I always kind of assumed the werewolf (the priest) was killing off mainly people in the town who were pretty much rough "sinners"...He killed the pregnant woman who was going to commit suicide to save her from going to hell for the sin of taking one's own life...he killed the abusive, drunken father of the little girl for being just that...abusive, drunk and cruel...possibly even saving that girl from further abuse...

But, I always wondered why he killed the friend with the kite? Was that just a fluke? Was he just in the wrong place at the wrong time? I kind of thought the werewolf/priest knew what he was doing so I wasn't sure why he would kill the little boy. I haven't seen this movie in years though but it just popped into my head when I saw the trailer on youtube a few minutes ago. I wondered if I missed something or that little boy was just an impulse kill for the priest/werewolf?

The drunk that gets killed in the beginning of the movie while working on the railroad, there is no indication that he was abusive or that he was a father, it just stated that he was a chronic drunk. The werewolf sometimes does kill people for specific reasons, such as the pregnant woman who was going to kill herself, but he also sometimes just kills random victims just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time such as the boy with the kite. Other people that he kills are people that go after him or have somehow hurt him, such as members of the mob who tried to hunt him down and the sheriff as well as going after Marty since Marty had hurt him with the rocket.
