Is that Tom Hanks...

Standing behind Mitch when he first comes to the college and is talking to the professor and the woman at the get together at the beginning, right after the professor gives Mitch the advice of always, never check your references. For a few seconds after Mitch walks away you can see a young Tom Hanks. He's not listed in the credits but I could swear that's him

No, check the thread below.

actually i looked it up and there are several articles where Tom Hanks himself said he was in in uncredited. That he was friends with the director so he was in that scene.

looks nothing like him when you look at the actor face to face.

behind, yes.

here is something to consider...would tom hanks who was up and coming during that time with bosom buddies splash and bachelor party.... would he really let the 'uncredited cameo' go??

his Wikipedia page mentions nothing of his uncredited cameo and even though he says it in another page... I have a feeling he is just jawing... noticing the similarity between him and the other actor and making fun of the urban legend.

OH THANK YOU GOD! THANK YOU SO BLOODY MUCH!!! Basil Fawlty

Except for the fact that it looks just like him at that age. It's not a perfect shot for comparison but while you don't think it is him multiple other people do believe it is him and Tom Hanks has said it was him. So I believe it is him in this movie. If he was friends with the director it makes sense that he would show up like that. It takes no time and it's kind of an inside joke for Tom and the director.

Def him

Yes, yes it is. A Google search yielded several articles that mention it.

Rant over. You can all return to your normal lives.

The producer is Brian Grazer who's Ron Howard's buddy/production team guy and they are good friends with Hanks. He looks a bit chubby in the face here but I guess it is him. Funny cameo..
