I need help with the content of this film...

It's quite violent. But not gory. Just lots of blood.

Yes. I saw this last night for the first time in a looong time.
The battle scenes are VERY bloody.

Just saw this film. While there are lots of blood the violence is kept at a minimum.

Most memorably violent moments that constittuted an R rating: Samurai holding his severed arm, samurai with an arrow through his eye; and of course, Kurogane redecorating Jiro's throne room in Lady Kaede's blood.

I didn't know what I was getting into when I first saw this film 6 years ago. When the first battle erupted, I thought oh my lord! I've seen plenty of violent films, but the opening battle is very shocking, so be prepared. THough it is mild by today's standard, there's something more haunting and intense about the violence in this film than the likes of Braveheart, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, etc.
