I'm sure it's been talked about a lot before on this board but there are so many messages it's hard to find the most recent thread.
Rambo's female companion looks so non-Asian that it ruins those scenes for me. Is there a known reason why she was hired, e.g. nepotism? Or was it just poor casting?
Julia Nickson, according to her bio, has a Chinese mother and a British father. She definitely looks Asian (I bought it, anyway).
I think they chose her because she was the best oriental-looking actress they could find. I thought she did fine in this movie, wasn't annoying or anything.

She definitely looked Asian to me. But only half-Asian. I didn't buy her as a native of the country in the early 80s where English was her second language.
