I had nightmare for months after seeing this movie
Am I the only one? I saw this when I was a kid and was so scared I had nightmares for months. This movie is not for little kids!

Haha, I just watched this movie, I'm in university, and all I was thinking was "this is the darkest children's comedy I've ever watched." I'm surprised this has such a low rating, it's a great Canadian gem.
Word for the day: artistical
This movie is some disturbing stuff, took months for me to shake off the memory of this film.
shareI watched this when I was much younger and I still shiver when I think how how traumatized I was....I did watch it again and again though. It still freaks me out when I think about it but I would watch it again in a minute
shareI am so glad to hear that other people were as freaked out by this movie as I was. For some reason this movie name popped into my head today, and I had to search it out in IMDb. Granted, I haven't seen it since I was about 6... but I clearly remember being terrified of that spooky old house. This is so not a kids movie.
shareI too had my issues with this film. No I didn't think it was something I dreamt, I'm afraid I was aware that it was all too real. Having just watched it again on youtube brought back all the memories. I still find it somewhat freaky. In fact reading everyone else's posts, I'm starting to remember how disturbing many kid films were back in the 70s and 80s. Many of the ones I've seen listed, I don't recall seeing, but if I watch them I'll probably recognize them and find answers to films I saw clips of back as a kid in the 80s. As for the Peanut Butter Solution, I think what was scary about it was the background. The Burned Down House, and the Ghosts. The creepy music they play when ever he goes inside or tries to remember. Also they way they show the house and the window he goes through, making you use your imagination as to what was in there. On top of all that, people die in a fire, there are ghosts, kids are kidnapped by a crazed teacher. Other then the ghosts, its all stuff that happens which you don't like to think of as a kid, and ghosts are something kids fear. Hell adults fear them. As for the background, its an old Canadian city, also during the fall or early winter. The sky is a grey and it always seems bleak. That can also add to a scary environment. I think with me, it was the ghosts and what I said about the house and how the film made it so you had to think and imagine what might have been in there. Thats what I remember finding disturbing about the film. However, even now at 28, I still like the film and glad I got to watch it again. I'm not even sure what made me think of it. The last time I saw it or heard anything about it was in 1990 when I was 10. Anyway, glad to know I wasn't alone.
