is this a cult following or what lol

i mean seriously! at the time of this writing, there are 6 WHOLE FREAKIN PAGES of comments on the message boards of this one movie!!! it's expected of a big famous blockbuster, but this is a very obscure children's flick. and what's really impressive is the unified response on all of them! they all have pretty much the same things to say about this movie. as far as my opinion, yes i have seen this movie and no i didn't find it scary at all, i liked it then and still like it now, but i can definitely understand why it has this impact. first of all, once i saw it, it stayed with me. i've seen many movies over the years that i would often forget, but i always remembered this one. i saw it when i was a kid back in the 80's when it came on hbo. they showed a few trailers here and there for it, then they showed the movie for a while, then it just faded into obscurity. it's set up as a children's film, but the whole way through it, it has this bizarre tone. it's not dark, but it's not overly light hearted either, it tends to hang in the middle. the music score is good, but slightly ominous. it's like looking in the spare bedroom closet at your grandma's house and finding this creepy doll. even though the doll may not be scary, it just has something about it that stays with you. but i have to say, the impact this movie seems to have on so many could almost make a movie in itself. it's time to get this movie into the spotlight!!!
