this movie brings back childhood memories for me. anyone know of any other movies from around the same time that bring back memories for them? a couple for me are the goonies and the neverending story.....oh yeah, and the tv show mr bogus. ne1 watch that? weird.

reply

There was this movie I remember vaguly on TV called FuzzBucket, I remember being horrified at that one as well.

reply

Holy poopstains, I forgot about FuzzBucket! Wasn't that one of those creepy disney tv movies? Speaking of freaky Disney Movies, wasn't there one with some adopted Asian girl in usa that peed standing on top of the toilet seat? Does that bring any memories to anyone? Or am I freak? I used to try to pee that way, not that I'm a girl, but maybe I just made the whole thing up. But, judas h., Fuzzbucket. I don't remember anything about it, besides the title. Some other creepy kids shows from back then are Watcher in the Woods (well, more like the early seventies, but it was always around), and that tv show A Small Wonder. oh man, that's creepy. One last thing, does anyone vaguely remember some messed up tv show with a midget living in a locker that always ate candy bars? Am I making that one up too? What a messed up time for kids. Oh, one more, what the sancho was PBS thinking when they approved Today's Special. Man, Sam still gives me nightmares.

I never have officially opined about The Peanut Butter Solution. My mom rented it, and we were all so shocked at the end that nobody could believe what we had just seen. I guess our only way of dealing with it was through laughter. The title became infamous. Wow, what a creepy show. I had too, forgotten the details until I read some of these posts.

reply

No, your not freak.

The movie you are referring to was, I believe, called "The Girl Who Spelled Freedom"; which was about a cambodian refugee who can, well, spell.

Those disney TV movies (Sunday nights, I believe) had ALOT of classics. Off the top of my head, I can remember:

I-MAN
The Brat Patrol
Little Spies
Ask Max
Wild Blue Yonder

And now my brain hurts. Anyone else?

reply

Born Raised and Trapped we are military brats!!
Yes! I was in love with Sean Astin as a kid, so I remeber this one well:)

reply

I remember all of the movies you just mentioned... in fact i still own copies of Wild Blue Yonder and Little Spies. My dad unfortunately taped over I-Man about 10 years ago.

I've been trying to find some of them on DVD for years.

That would be the Monster Squad! Classic campy flick. Use to watch it weekly when I was a kid..."Wolfman's got nards!"

Does anybody remember another TV movie from around the same time as this and Fuzzbucket, where a young couple adopted a kid who came dehydrated in the bottom of a trash can?? Now THAT movie freaked me out, but I can't remember the name.

reply

The labyrynth was from around that time... it was my fav movie for ages.

reply

This doesn't have to do directly with The Peanut B S, but it's in the same vein...
Does anyone remember a movie where some kid goes to a big house and inside there are all these weird colors and I think the boy (MIGHT have been a girl) is in some sort of danger in the house...there are floating orbs of light and at the end he leaves the house (MAYBE with a dog) and it's night??? I'm sorry if that's way too vague.
This movie, the one I just described, Mr. Boogedy, The snowball war (or whatever it's called) and The Raccoons cartoon all drove me nuts - I seem to be the only one who remembers them! My husband, brother and mom all think I'm nuts!

reply

Sounds vaguely like "The Red Room Riddle"... was usually played on Saturday afternoons after the cartoons on ABC channel.

Hey, Hoops, you ever notice how people die in alphabetical order?

reply

I remember The Raccoons! In fact I have one episode on VHS cuz my dad taped it after some Disney Special. :)

I REMEMBER MR. BOOGEDTY AND THE RACOONS! OH MY GOD! I hadn't thought about those since my childhood! Holy crap!

reply

That was a show on PBS called "Wonderworks". I don't remember the name of that specific movie, but Wonderworks showed different series that would be shown in installments. I think the boy's name was Conrad or something like that. He came from a factory that manufactured children for people to adopt, but he was sent to the wrong house by accident.

reply

i was looking for the same movie. i found it recently, its a tv movie called "konrad." it has ned beatty and the dad from ALF.

reply

LOL that guy got caught smoking crack on a hidden camera (the dad from ALF)

reply

I REMEMBER THIS MOVIE....The kid was like an alien or something and they kept him in a large oil can..or he was delivered that way...I can't really remember. I LOVE THE 80'S....Wish I could go back. I was a little kid back then, but watching "The Peanut Butter Solution" I had flashbacks to certain parts....the movie is so CAMPY, but scared the s%%t outta me when I was little.

Here's some other movies I remember from the 80's:

Garbage Pale Kids
Howard The Duck
Carebears
Monster Squad
VIBES (with Cyndi Lauper & Jeff Goldblume)
FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR
CACOON
Batteries Not Included
HAUNTED HONEYMOON
RETURN TO OZ
The WORST Witch

Maybe someone can help me with one...I think it was on DINSEY about a little girl that fell into a well and her ghost was haunting people...she dropped something in the well like her babydoll or something I remember she had blonde pigtails, but that's all I remember. This is just a crapshoot, but I've had flashbacks about this movie for years!

Since I watched The Peanut Butter Solution on Nickelodean's Special Delivery (and am extremely excited to finally find out what it was called and to see so many people who have "fond?" memories of this film as well) I also remember another one I believe I saw on Special Delivery about a robot grandmother that was delivered in a coffin like box. I don't remember a lot but I can her standing in the kitchen and looking out the window and seeing the wooden box come down again, I guess that meant it was time for her to go again, I just remember it was very sad.

reply

That was "The Electric Grandmother"... The boy choose the eye color from his favorite marble. It was a Ray Bradury short story. I think it was "I Sing the Body Electric".

Does anybody remember a childhood show about a woman in a caboose?

reply

I'm so glad that I finally found out what this movie was! Ever since I discovered IMDB I have slowly begun to unravel all the fragmented memories that I have of shows from my childhood. I was so excited when I found "The Point" which was a cartoon movie from the 70's featuring Oblio and his dog Arrow that were banished from the city of Point. The Peanut Butter Solution, however, I thought was a lost cause. I did not know the title and all I could remember was a little boy that starting growing long red hair and he was taken to a factory (or something) where an old man was cutting off his hair to make paint brushes. I remembered something about magical paintings, and I thought that the little boy had cancer before he started growing the hair. After reading everyone's posts about the movie, it all started coming back to me.

There is, however, one movie that I still cannot figure out. It was actually a horror movie (I think from the late 70's or early 80's) about this family who moves into an old house with a cellar (or basement). The little boy goes into the cellar one day and sees a horrible red monster. When he goes to tell his parents, of course they don't believe him. All I remember is that it looked like a dead man that was all red and gruesome, and it trys to come up the stairs to get to the little boy. It scared me to death! Does anyone have any idea what this movie might be? This is the last one that I can't figure out!

(It's not "The Thing in the Cellar" because I checked that one already).

reply

Was this a kids' movie? If not, it almost sounds like Lucio Fulci's "The House By the Cemetery"... which, yeah, that would likely give any child nightmares, let alone adults.

GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU MAGNIFICENT BASTARDS!! i could have sworn the peanut butter solution was a nightmare i had as a kid, a really freaky one i was afraid to talk about like an uncle was touching me in an innapropriate way. i thought it was to weird to bring up and for some reason the name popped into my head today. im so glad that was an actual movie! now if someone could help me with something else. wasnt there a tv show on in the 80's about this guy and kid that time traveled . they had this little hand held time thingy. i remember the kid having curly hair and huge teeth and one episode where they became pirates?????? another show i think i remeber being on around the same time was one that was maybe called the wiz or the wizard it had a midget in it? and i could have sworn the opening to the show was him leading a parade or something??

anyone remeber a movie about a girl who goes through her mirror into another world

reply

I think that's the Disney TV series of Alice in Wonderland. It was... pretty much just as trippy as the animated movie, but took place in modern (early 1990's) time.

reply

I believe it was called "Alice Through the Looking Glass"

reply

Did it have a monster called the Jabberwocky in it?

reply

You are all bringing back so many memories! I loved the Magical Adventures of Unico! I watched it over and over as a kid. Right afterwards on the same tape (thank god for the VCR as my family was nuts about taping everything!) was a show called "In Search of the Wow Wow Wibble Woggle Wazzie Woodle Woo"! Hardly anyone I ever talk to remembers or even has heard of that one. What about Fluppy Dogs? Im still bummed they never made that into a series. I just have my pilot episode tape that kind of scrambles from to much trying to re-live my childhood XD

reply

no one is going to bring up "the third eye"??!!

That is called Hugga bunch. The land of little people that hugged :P

reply

(In reference to the midget show.) You aren't perchance talking about the '80s show where the midget had these really eccentric ways of doing things, and he lived with an average, run-of-the-mill family, are you? He did weird stuff... Like when he was trying to figure stuff out, he would play the drums REALLY loud and very obnoxiously, so that he could "think."

Does that help?

That's right. I called 'em REO. The Speedwagon part was for losers.

reply

The Time Traveling Show you speak of, I believe is called "Voyagers." They finally put it to DVD. Anyway thats what it sounds like from your description. You'll know for sure when you see the box. The two and the hand held device are on the cover. It only premiered for one season, as the main character accidently killed himself. Its all on IMDB. Just type in Voyagers. I used to see it own some local channel in the mid 90s, but no one I talked to had even heard of it. It was on in the very early 80s I believe. Anyway, check that title out. Hope this helps.

Does anyone remember a film made about '84 or '85 about a boy and a vantrilquest dummy that held the spirit of an old man. The boy had a single mother and played with toy R2D2. The school bully always wore his Darth Vader helmet. Is this ringing a bell with anyone?

reply

GREAT STUFF GUYS

1 Movie that scared the crap out of me as a kid was "The Quest or Frog Dreaming" and I havent got it yet but I have weird memories of "Daniel and the towers".

Go look up the Quest or Frog Dreaming on youtube, its about some monster at the bottom of a lake that turns outs to be an old crane. The windmill goes crazy and the water bubbles while this thing rises out of some mirky water.

There's one movie that's from late 80's or early 90's. The only thing I remember from it is that a boy experiments with some egg and injects his own blood in it. Later a boy that looks just like him comes out of the egg. Have I been dreaming or is there such a movie?

reply

those 2 movies scared the crap outta me too!

I know which movie you are talking about. There are two of them. The one you are thinking of is called The Magic Adventures of Unico. I used to have nightmares about these movies.

reply

Definitely remember The Quest. Had a very hazy, dreamlike quality to it.

reply

I know this may be late, but you might be thinking of Making Contact (otherwise known as "Joey"). I had a helluva time figuring that one out, too.

That's right. I called 'em REO. The Speedwagon part was for losers.

reply

I see that a lot of people thought this was a nightmare from their childhood like i did.
Does anyone remember a show or movie with a blue monster that hung out with this kid or something. He had like red hair on his head. I believe i had the action figure or something. Maybe i'm crazy.

reply

Does any one remember an old movie-its a cartoon and at least 15 years old. There were two or three short stories. I only have extremely vague memories about it, but one had a little boy and there was another story about a man who is in a haunted mansion or hotel(?) and I think he rode there by horse and I think there might have been something with candles or a fireplace. Its been so long. If any one can help with this it would be greatly appreciated!!

reply

jealous obron- i believe you were talking about my pet monster there was a 60 min kids movie and a cartoon but it wasnt a figure it was more like a stuffed annimal that had a broken chain on his wrist
