Jim Carrey's character name in the movie is Mark Kendall and Mark Kendall happens to be the guitarist for Great White back in their glory era and they even released an album called "Once Bitten" which features the hits "Save Your Love" and "Rock Me", when I've first seen this movie that was what I've immediately thought of

The writer or writers of the film probably were not thinking about that at the time during the mid 80's. it always states that these characters are not real and the names are not connected to real people. So the writers created the name not thinking about that band member.

I know Great White didn't become big until 1987 when they've released the album "Once Bitten", I thought it was strange how they've named Jim Carrey's character from one of the members of Great White yet Great White released an album in 1987 of the name that was from this movie

Well I watched several months ago Tough Guys a comedy made in the late 80's and Red Hot Chili Peppers appeared in the film. It was cool to see.
