You're welcome...you know it's strange, I've seen the movie now maybe 10 times or more...on the official video release copy...but watching the tape from last night when it was on TCM, I don't know what it was but it was like a new experience in the whole sense of the movie.

At the airing of the film on TCM, I saw that there were over 3 uses of the word *beep* and about 4 uses of "s***". The film has a TV-PG-DLV rating despite these severe profanities. A TV-MA rating would have sufficed, despte the film's PG-13 rating (I just learned that the movie was originally rated R).

reply

It was originally going to be rated R but was appealed to PG-13...now I don't know what that *beep* is but I know it's not f^ck, because they only used the word f^cker twice in this movie, and a PG-13 movie stays PG-13 as long as the word f^ck is used at a maximum of 3 times. Besides, this was done in the 80s, now before they had PG-13, Airplane! had a topless woman running around, and just about every obscenity as I recall, and it had only a PG rating.

Hmmm. It still seems kinda of bizarre, to me, that this movie would be played on TCM. I mean, its not a "CLASSIC" in any sense of the word. Hell! Its not even that old of a movie. I'm two years older than the movie. Does that make ME a "CLASSIC"?

It's a cult classic. Now if you want to get technical, they've shown several movies on TCM that are younger than The Legend of Billie Jean, like Men in Black, that's far younger than the Legend of Billie Jean, so how is it a classic?
