Cheezy?

I saw bits and pieces of this movie on cable when I was a kid (HBO used to show it a lot) I don’t have a concrete opinion of it one way or another. I just what to know why do people keep saying it is so cheesy? What in particular is cheesy about it?

Imagine yourself back in the 80's when this first came out. No teen from what I remember became a rebel or got "the cut" because of it.Hopefully not, anyways. It came on like some stupid MTV soap opera. Maybe, because it featured stupid MTV tunes.Yes, even that stupid "cut".It wasn't so much the "cut" but that hood ornament she wore as an ear accessory or something, yowch.Typical Hollywood's idea of the punk rebel thing, ok, there was that fiasco with the bad people (snore) I actually sat through this tripe when it first aired on cable.Do I hear remakes in that other thread? I think it could be a decent story if it was just done better.Though, as long as this movie's plot line is so timeworn (even then) good kids, done wrong by people, and getting the blame, and fight back. Everybody loves a hero though, as dubious and ridiculous as they get. I think if someone does suggest doing a remake, they should be flogged immidiately and dumped in the drink.
