If this all was to happen nowadays...

How do you think it would play out? I think the cops would have taken them seriously as soon as they went to file a report, and Pyatt would have been arrested for attempted rape. End of story. What do you think?

Well, the ACLU would have protected the rapist, Pyatt because that is what they do (protect the bad, screw the victims) and they would have thrown Billie Jean in jail for accidentally starting the fire at the end and for kicking Pyatt in the balls. Pyatt would have sued her and and won punitive damages and been hailed a hero by the liberal media and Billie Jean would be in prison forever. THAT - or something pretty close to it is exactly what would happen in the USA, 2008. How I miss the 80's/pre-Marxist era.

Well if all this were to happen nowadays, the police probably would have caught Billie Jean and the gang in about 8 hours or so instead of days or weeks later...as to how it would play out? That would just depend on if they were able to take the case before a jury and who was on the jury, if any of them had ever been raped or harrassed, if any of them had kids, if any of them had been like Hubie, etc. By some miracle Billie Jean and the gang would probably win though and Pyatt would lose his shirt to them.

They would be on Judge Judy:)

or at least simply gone to small claims court and the movie would be over before it began.

Since they were all minors, their names would have to be suppressed in any news stories, and all legal entanglements would be handled in Juvenile Court.
