Why is this so underrated?

I just saw this movie and I loved it, I was born in the 90's so I wasn't around when it came out. I found out this mostly had negative reviews from critics and doesn't have that big of an audience score here, why is this so overlooked and underrated? This was a good movie.

I don't get it either, I think it's great - the characters are likable and memorable, good soundtrack, unique story, very re-watchable this should be an 80s classic imo but it seems like not many people have seen it

Totally agree.
Swerved it for ages due to bad reviews, but upon watching, I loved it.
Adore Pat Benatar's song, too.
Deffo needs a Cult Movie status.
