When I was little and watched this movie I actually believed it was possible to reach a level where your kung fu skills allowed your body to 'glow'.
I grew out of that childish belief around age 7-8, though.
Look at what fighters can do in DragonBall because of a high enough skill. I think what they can do in this movie is nothing compared to that.
