I watched it for the 1st. Recorded it off of TCM Underground some time ago. Can't believe I've never heard of a Motown Kung Fu movie.
The lead actor's performance reminded me a lot of Eddie Murphy's in Coming to America. They speak the same and half a lot of the same cadence. So either Eddie acted like that on his movies prior to 1985, or he was a fan.
Also, The Glow could have inspired Soul Glo.
I also wonder if the pizza scene inspired Do the Right Thing.
