Great but...

The music and Matthew Broderick

The costumes, story, and cast are great. The music is not. Matthew Broderick is a wet rag. He's trying, but putting him next to Michelle Pfeiffer and Rutgers Hauer was not a good match.

Other than that, it's a fun fantasy.

I didn't care for the movie (normal for Richard Donner movies), but liked the soundtrack.

I'm not a fan, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. We can't always agree but that just shows me that we're lucky to have variety in taste.

Broderick and the synthesizers need to be digitally erased from the film. Do that, and it’s a first-class classic. Would they have dropped the trivial, hammy Broderick into, say, Excalibur? Of course not. Not only was the Moog synthesizer an abomination that should have never happened, the recording of the soundtrack was unusually “bright,” meaning “harsh and annoying.” One of the many reasons why I love Queen is because they wrote on every one of their albums, “No Synths.”

Queen was amazing. Especially on the Flash Gordon Soundtrack

Queen was never not amazing—and smart. They are the best-educated Stadium Band in history: 3 baccalaureates, 1 doctorate. They created the world’s favorite songs: We Will Rock You, Another One Bites the Dust and We Are The Champions, all of which are played at nearly every sporting event on earth. Queen is pictured next to the word “awesome” in the dictionary.

Sorry, that's not entirely true. 🎹

wasnt Matthew Broderick being a "runt" sort of the point?

reply

I was speaking of his performance moreso than his stature. You are right, he is supposed to be a runt.
