Need help with a film title!! (possible spoilers )

I'm looking for a film. I'm not sure who's in it or what it's called. All I can remember is that the main character is a man with black hair and possibly has a beard, there is a blond haired women who almost gets sacrificed by being lowered in to laver by a tribe and I remember the main bad guy is German I think, and he wears a black costume with a cape, hat and has a sword (I think. It’s been a while since I last saw it) he also has a gun boat which gets blown up. At the end the main character is about to get executed and gets rescued by partner who’s a younger man. People keep telling me it’s King Solomon's Mines and I’m sure it’s not.

The movie you're thinking of was the fabulous NATE AND HAYES, a John Hughes-written (I think) film starring Tommy Lee Jones. Along with the Charlton Heston TREASURE ISLAND, this is one of the two best pirate movies I've hoped would come out on DVD, but haven't.

Thanks for the reply, but it is definitely not Treasure Island. The film I’m talking was set in the early to mid 1900's (I think) and the gun boat had a swivelling turret like a battleship. The boat gets blown up buy them putting a shell from the gun on the gear that turns the turret and when the turret hits the shell it explodes, blowing the boat up.

It is "Nate and Hayes" like the last guy said. I've always known the film by the name "Savage Islands", but they're the same.

Yeah the movie is definately 'savage islands' also known as NATE AND HAYES.This is a great underrated movie
