Sorry but I have to vent somewhere. I just watched this movie, and it is a total Indy ripp off. I read a post saying Lucas stole from this one but please. Music sound the same, they have germans, a screaming annoying lady, the hat, crazy stunts (although low budget), and on and on. KSM was fun to watch on a lazy afternoon with nothing else on TV. And my mom is a Richard Chamberlain fan, but it is a lesser version of Indiana Jones.
George Lucas has said one of the earliest movies that made a big impression on him was the 1950 version of King Solomon's Mines, the one with Stewart Grainger and Deborah Kerr. Indiana Jones is modeled after Alan Quatermain more specifically from the books. I doubt Lucas "stole" from anything.

Well, "King Solomon's Mines" was a book, but this is not really an adaption of it. This movie has little in common with the book, and much more in common with "Raiders of the Lost Ark". That said, I find it more of a spoof that a ripoff. And it is pretty funny. As for the music, that is composed by Jerry Goldsmith, one of the greatest composers of all time, and it is just as good as the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" score.
Courage, men! We've not sunk before, and we'll not sink now!
If anyone has ever watched the first half of Last Action hero and not enjoyed it, they will not like this movie. If you enjoy movies which make fun of themselves, like the begining of Last Action Hero (" Louie LeFart will pass gas one more time") then you understand the context which this movie was meant to be watched.
Obviously it was made to cash in on the popularity of Indiana Jones at the time, but its not a bad movie and can still be fun to watch, particularly when we have George and the Crystal Skull reminding us it could always be worse.
