This movie holds up well as a mystery

I think that's what makes it more intriguing to us viewers is that we never actually get the answers we want in the movie. Of course we get all kinds of theories years later but to many it still doesn't resolve itself.

Billy Cole's eerie demise continues to baffle people because the man obviously wasn't a human, although he appears as one. Not enough evidence in the film to support any of the theories that has been presented to us. It's all speculation because there is no kind of backstory given on Billy Cole's life. All we know is that he's the vampire's servant.

Then we got Charley's father. We know nothing about him or if the man's still alive. We can only assume what might've been, but again, not enough backstory on Charley to know of this.

Jerry's past love who resembles Charley's girlfriend, Amy. The viewer knows that Jerry is still torn from whatever happened to that woman but we don't know who she is or if Jerry knew her in a past life (as a human) or when he first turned into a vampire. There's so much more to Jerry that the viewer just don't know about. Could he be responsible in some way? And Jerry isn't the kind of guy to talk about this stuff anyway.

Then we got Evil Ed. Right before Jerry turns him, he points out about Ed being different. Was Jerry referring to Ed's sexuality? It's possible, but again, the film never explores this avenue. We can only assume what might be really going on With Ed.

In my opinion, it's these little details that keeps the film feeling fresh, aside from it being over 30 years old.

I know this was written 5 years ago but you bring up good points, which is why I made a post about Dandridge as a discreet dude, knowing how to keep things to himself the way old school men used to be.

Yea this is a really really old post but when I first saw this I remember the part after Peter V shoots Billy Cole & then the vampire just comes out & says "voodoo" then Billy Cole rises from the dead & keeps coming. To me I thought that was so so cool 😎
