They pretended to have sex and were filmed in a way to make it look convincing. They might not have even been fully naked. It's extremely rare for actors to have actual sex to happen in feature films.
Similarly, no one was killed in this movie and in the fight scenes the actors were not actually hitting each other.
Have you seen Debi Sue Vorhees? I would have done the seen for free and I was 10 at the time of this movies filming.

There was no insertion. They choreograph sex scenes just as they do the fight scenes. Why did they do it? Because they were actors. Actors agree to these things because it is just part of their craft.

Debi Voorhees' $3,000 paycheck is mentioned in the "Did You Know?" section of her profile on IMDb. An interesting aside is that she was fired from several teaching jobs after it was discovered that she had done nude scenes in this Friday the 13th film. She's had quite an interesting life.
