Question??

Ahh man. I love this movie. It far surpasses anything I have ever seen and still evokes sparks of sheer joy after endless viewings. But I do have one question.
For me, the penultimate scene of Dorman and Phil saying their farewells is one of the most moving pieces of acting committed to screen. The understanding that they will never see one another again is something I'm sure any viewer can relate to, and this is why it is so powerful. But........ if you think back to the beginning of the movie, don't all the Groovers share a house in Texas? And if so, is it not perceivable that they will see each other again if they have to return to said house and move out all there belongings? A bit far-fetched and pernickety I know, but I just wondered if this thought crossed any other minds.

Yeah, I've thought about that one but, I'm just assuming they are all leaving everyhthing behind them to start a new life. I could see them going back if they lived in a nice place with a nice TV, stereo etc..but, really they lived in a complete S**THole so, I guess they are just going to move on! Good question thou...

They share a house in Austin, Texas, because they are all in a Fraternity house (Fictional Alpha Pi Omega) in college (presumably the University of Texas - Austin). They would be five of many, many people. Additionally, they have just graduated, thus becoming eligible for the Vietnam draft & Barnes, Hicks and Waggener are to report to active military duty on Monday. Thus it is unlikely that Dorman & Hicks would see each other again.
