This is one of the most beautiful movies ever made. I won't go into how much I love it but why the ridicuously low score?!!
Agreed! A very under-appreciated movie. Definitely deserves better than 5.9. A solid 8.5-9 IMHO. I never understood why it was panned so hard by the critics...

It's a great flick.
Spielberg taking his name off of the movie probably had something to do with it. The critics probably weren't so open-minded after he did that. F U C C K K Spielberg. Most of his movies are good, but he kinda sucks... attitude.
shareApparently Spielburg knew nothing about Texas in 1971. The depiction of the times is spot on. I was in Texas in 1971 and had graduated high school in 1970. My brother was in college and I attended some party's there. I see no reason why he should be ashamed of this work. I absolutely love this movie, and every time I see it, it takes me back to my college days and partying ways.

Someone must have intentionally buried this gem.
It's a very good film that deserves more attention, but I'd stop short of calling it a masterpiece. 7/10 stars from me.
