Who played the pilot?

The hippy-dippy pilot of the parachute school? I mean, I KNEW guys just like him (sans plane, thank god). Just another example of the great admixture of laughs and road adventure against a very real background of the uncertainties of the era: was your friend, or yourself, going to die in a jungle? It wasn't just an organic end to childhood friendships as one grew up, there was the very real possibility of an end to childhood friends. I don't know if that's why I love this film so much, but I think it was wonderfully realized (and Suzy Amis was perfect as the girl who was worth all the striving).

His name is Marvin J McIntyre. He's billed as "introducing" in this film. The only other movie I recall seeing him in is "Twins" with Schwarzeneggar and DeVito.

He sells Kevin Kline the crappy pistol in, Silverado.

His filmography lists a bunch of bit parts, but these two movies are the only things that I've seen or noticed him in.

Same with Pepe Serna, in both of these. Maybe Costner was friends with both of them.

Was also in Falcon and the Snowman, the Penn/Hutton film. Bit part. I think he was in Pale Rider, too
