Sad to report that Amanda Peterson has passed away. She did a great job in Explorers. Very sad that another cast member has gone. It always seems to affect me more when it's someone from a film I loved as a kid. Especially when that film was about being young and looking to the future. Many will remember her from Can't Buy Me Love, but she'll always be remembered by me as being a pivotal part of Explorers, a film which I hope continues to grow its audience as it really deserves it. RIP and my thoughts are with her family and friends.

My sentiments exactly. I loved CBML as much as everyone back in the day, but she'll always be Lori from "Explorers" to me. Maybe more will now take the chance to view and appreciate its hopeful, optimistic entertainment which is sadly lacking these days. Rest well, and God bless, Amanda.

RIP She was great as Lori in Explorers as well as Cindy Mancini in Can't Buy Me Love.

Joe Dante said that River had a big crush on Amanda while filming Explorers,but she preferred Ethan.
