According to IMDB's "alternate versions", the dvd release cuts the love scene by 5 minutes - that's practically all of it...wow. I checked Amazon and sure enough..its running time is 91minutes compared to the original 96 minutes. What a dumb decision. Defintely doesn't work for me.

I've watched the shorter version, but I bought the DVD on Amazon and the scene is bigger than I saw first. So there's more of that? I didn't understand.

Corey with Wolfe Video here. We will be releasing a new 2-Disc Collector's Edition of DESERT HEARTS on June 5, 2007.
According to director Donna Deitch, the cut of the film on VHS and DVD are the exact same cut of the film that played theatrically. There is only one cut of the film, and that is all there has ever been. Those numbers are incorrect.
The new 2-disc Collector's Edition will include that cut of the film, as well as lots of never-before-seen footage, new interviews with the director and cast, director's commentary, and more.
