I would like to think that too.
If dreams come true they're no longer dreams.
Oh absolutely. She just kept telling Cay, one more stop, just one more stop, until she had her convinced.
"Isn't it pretty to think so?"
Hehehe... Donna herself mentions she thinks Cay goes with her to NY too. She also spills the idea she had for the sequel. And after what she said, I'm kinda glad she didn't make the sequel!
shareIs this from the dvd commentary? It's hard to find any interviews/info at all.
shareOn the special ed. DVD of the movie, Donna says that she's writing a sequel at the moment. I wonder if it'll be a 10-20yrs later setting so Helen and Patricia can be in it again...? From seeing the 2 actresses in the interviews on the disc, I think they could pass for maybe a 10yrs later. See whether Vivian went back to working at the college and what Patricia did after she agreed to move to New York *grin*. I think it'll be seriously hard to re-cast their roles if it is only set the following year. Who could they possibly get to play the leads...?
A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle!
On the original; dvd commentary donna said Cay would probably have moved to new york. But be warned she also said that if she hd a sequel she would break them up becasue cay would cheat with another women,so i'm hoping the sequel doesn't come off or the storyline has been written differently.Because the sequel will ruin the original which we know was supposed to have a happy ending because it was based on the book which did.
shareIt stands to reason that Cay, being so young, would cheat, so even though I wouldn't like it, the story should go that way. Dietch could always set the sequel 20 years later--in the middle 70s?--and Cay has returned to Vivian, who has also explored other romances during the wildness of the late 60s, and perhaps then they end up together? Cay is a big artist, wild, Vivian is the dean of a women's college--they meet at an art show. Perhaps their break-up was bitter, and now they're trying to stand their ground while finding out they still love each other? Tension is always a great device. Maybe this time, it's VIVIAN who seeks out Cay?
shareI seem to remember DD saying that Vivian, not Cay, would be the one to fall into that temptation. Which I find rather thought-provoking and interesting. Still, I love that ending from the film. It's perfect.
I've always resisted the notion that knowledge ruined Paradise

what's perfect about the ending is that it's so happy, with the train... obviously life never is a bed of roses, and it would be very much like cay to cheat (and make no apologies) and very much like vivian not to take it (i'm not saying anyone should! though it would certainly make life easier on those of us who just can't help themselves :-))
love the movie, in every way
I don't think Cay would cheat tbh. I think the ending is a happy one, as does the director. It leaves it up to the viewer to decide their future but chances are Cay stayed with Vivian in NY.
I'd die for you. I love you. I love you so much it's killing me.
It seems like things just might work out for them.
I am going to choose to believe they ended up happy together.
shareI think Cay will eventually go and join Vivian in New York. Cay is head over heels in love with Vivian and she won't let her go that easy. I've seen some people thinking Cay will cheat or lose interest in Vivian but I don't think Cay sees her like say Cay's friend with benefits Gwen. Maybe not at that moment she gets on train as Cay said she has some things to sort out.
