One of my favourite film growing up! It's funny I wonder the same thing as the OP.I was too young as well but it's one film I would have liked to say I went to the cinema to see it.

My buddy and I saw it opening weekend. We had to memorize what D.A.R.Y.L. stood for, because if we told the cashier we got a free mini-poster.

I don't recall seeing it in a theater, but I saw it a long time ago. Maybe I have a laser disc of it, but that's all packed away.
