Is this the film where...

I was almost positive that this was a movie that I saw like 20 years ago in second grade. But now I just watched it on YouTube and the main thing I remembered about it wasn't in the movie at all. I'm wondering if maybe I saw an abbreviated version? But the thing I remember was there was this movie about this little robot boy and then some woman bought him for a dollar and said that it was the best dollar she ever spent because she got the boy as a child. It sounded so much like this movie, and this really did seem familiar when I watched it, but that main thing that I remember from it wasn't in the film at all. So I am wondering was that scene in this film and the version I saw just took it out, or is that another film altogether? If it is does anyone know what that film was?
