What Monty could've done
Here is what Monty could've done. He couldn't "buy the Hope diamond for some bimbo as a birthday present" since he couldn't give the money, or anything he bought with it, away. He couldn't buy a bunch of expensive paintings and then burn them since he couldn't destroy anything of intrinsic value. He could only spend up to 5 percent on charity and 5 percent on gambling. Also, by the end of the 30 days he couldn't be in possession of any material assets, cars, yachts, mansions, ect, that he bought with part of the 30 million, only the "clothes on his back." Well here is what he could do. He could buy the Hope diamond and then throw it away. By throwing it away, it is no longer in his possession. He didn't destroy, he just got rid of it, it and he didn't give it away. Sure, some lucky person might happen to "find" the Hope diamond after Monty disposes of it but Monty didn't give it to them so therefore he would've satisfied the conditions.
