rare stamps and coins

the stamp thing bothered me until i read in another thread how using a stamp in the way Monty did isn't considered destroying a valuable item it's just using an item in the way it was first intended so really all he needed to do was buy several rare stamps and use them in the mail. all of that being said if someone can argue that it is destroying the stamps then fine the simple answer is rare coins. many rare coins are stamped as legal tender such as the US Gold eagel which is equivalent to $20 but costs far more to buy so all he need do is spend $30mil in coins and use them instead of cash

I agree with you. It would have been funny to watch him use acrarecdime in a parking meter or soda machine, but at the same time, he would have had a harder time proving he's spent cash than he did with the stamp.

If those lawyers were a little smarter, I think they should have pretended to have never received Monty's postcard and should have claimed he was hoarding the stamp. Or, if anyone in the postal system had seen the stamp and realized its value, they could have stolen the postcard before or after the stamp was cancelled. Also, the postcard could have easily been lost in the mail.

reply

not really because once you use that stamp the value is worthless, so there is no way he got any value out of mailing a million dollar stamp

reply

Not true. Value is usually reduced but not lost.

There are a few cases where the only known examples of a stamp are all canceled from use.
