What a bastard father he had, i mean locking a 7 year old a broom closet forced to smoke cigars for 3 days with no food or water.

That was not an uncommon thing at the time. I heard stories from my Dad that some parents just did things this way. The idea is to make your kid so sick he will never want to do that again. Too extreme for my tastes but that what some people did.

The idea was to make him sick of smoking cigars so he would never do it again. I suppose for the rest of his days he never did because he got sick from doing that. It is a form of punishment some parents have.

Uh... so why didn't he just light the cigars and let them burn down to stubs? If his father just saw the stubs, how would he know whether they had been smoked or not?

Heh heh. If your kid isnt puking his guts out and you just have stubs, you would know he didnt smoke them. This isnt a court of law, you dont need proof.

Or else he is superman and thats a whole different can of worms there.
