If you were Claire, would you have developed feelings for John by the end of the day? I don’t think that I would have and I certainly wouldn’t have given him my diamond earring. If I had fallen for him, I think I would have waited a while to see where the relationship was going before doing that.

And if you were John, would you have developed feelings for Claire by the end of the day?

They seemed to hate each other for most of the movie. It’s hard for me to believe that their feelings could do such a one-eighty.

I think she always liked his bad boy nature and was into that, she got to glimpse the real person underneath all of his bravado too. It was high school and people develop crushes for a lot less. How long it would have lasted, I don't know but I buy that it would have happened for a short time at least.

Clare was the popular girl. John would have been into her without a problem even if it was just a shallow sex thing.
