What Makes Allison Behave So Strange? (Analysis By Professional Therapist)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGzhrDxBBJc

Allison (played by Ally Sheedy) is my favourite character from The Breakfast Club. Her acting is fantastic in the film and she paints a great depiction of a girl not used to attention. Both seeking and fearing connection at the same time. Caught between voicelessness, pushing people away through strangeness, and yearning to fit in. In many ways, she encapsulates the classic human struggle of both wanting to belong whilst also wanting to be unique and separate.

As a professional counsellor, I try to breakdown her character in the film through an analysis of the iconic "they ignore me" scene. Let me know what you guys think.

Single mom. Douchebag step dad who looks at her creepily. Listens to Marylin Manson and watches Ghost Adventures. Is a cutter. Favorite movie Nightmare Before Christmas. Shops at Hot Topic and has a boyfriend who’s 32 and a gamer.

If it were made today she’d have green hair and be anti the oppressive patriarchal society. The cliche counter culture kid.

Do I stutter?

They would all be a drag today if they made this now. But yeah her especially would be upset about the environment and angry at Trump, cutting herself over some perceived injustice.

She would also not undergo a makeover at the end and would probably end up with Princess.

Allison acted that way because it was a way to stand out from the crowd. That her weirdness was an act was demonstrated by her "transformation" after Claire's makeover.
