In the schools I know they dont allow cell but I could be wrong given it's been forever since Ive been to one.
But anyway, kids back then were pretty dumb too. So this movie is far fetched and also full of plot holes. Its not a movie not meant to be realistic I think.

Nah, at least where I live most schools have a strict policy about cellphones: you can use them during breaks but you can't use them during classes. I've seen students being kicked out from classes for using their cellphones. I even had a teacher in high school who would confiscate cellphones until the end of his classes if he caught students using them.
And during detention? No way. I've been in a few weekend detentions back in high school and there was always a teacher who would watch and make sure that we were doing our assignments.
Which is stupid since they are so dependable. And how would we ever know of all the bad crap that happens in school without video recording? Goes to show how much evidence is lost.
Also in my public shit schools if you lost your cellphone the schools would not do a damn thing. You shouldn’t be bringing them and if you actually saw the theft with it the school would side with them. How do we know it’s yours?

This is indeed really shitty, unprofessional and despicable. This reminds me of a stupid bitch instructor I had in elementary school. One day a guy nearly got me blind by pressing his fingers in my eyes during break. I went to see her stupid face, and for some reason I was responsible for this and she started yelling at me. Tell me about how school is supposed to be with children and not against them.
Schools always side with the criminals. Many times criminals stole from me, bullied me, beat me they would always ask for evidence, witnesses even if they had cameras then theyd say we didnt find anything or bothered to check. Footage was deleted cause it was too old though it was their fault for the delayed check. Of course if I ever did anything I was the first to pay the price.

If they made this now the kids would sit around talking about racism, how they think it has effected them and how there are like 400 different types of genders. It would be really boring and then they would all get high and probably get kicked out of detention for being boring disgraces by the teacher.

shareLMAO so true! The modern day Breakfast Club wouldn't be detention it would be group therapy which even this one is really but they would make it full on therapy complete with Shrink and meds etc Then instead of the group dance scene they all go out and raise money for some SJW cause.

How you frame today's remake is: the detention starts with their cell phones being confiscated, and as the film progresses they start talking to kids who aren't part of their social circle for once in their constrained little lives.

shareThank you. I'm an adult in his mid-20s and I always thought that this perception of today's youth is so out of touch with reality.
I mean, we have all been teenagers and we were just as influenced by everything, we were just as pretentious, we were all making mistakes... this is not just a generation thing.
This being said... I agree with the fact that this SJW atmosphere influences people (including teens) in a bad way and I wouldn't be surprised if teenagers are more arrogant and easily offended than they used to be... but so are adults.
