To those saying Bender and Claire shouldn't have ended up together...

I think Bender and Claire being together actually makes sense. I thought it was quite clear throughout the film that Claire found Bender and his antics quite attractive, and was conflicted by his attitude towards her. At the same time, the way Bender treated her seemed like he was lashing out from frustration that her start in life (specifically her parents) had been so much better than his, and he resented her for that. I think she saw that in the end, came to understand a lot about his character. This is why when she approaches him at the end he doesn't push her away at all, and when he asks why she kissed him she replies "because I know you wouldn't have". In other words, "I know that in this isolated space with no-one else around, you wouldn't take advantage or be mean, because that's for them not you". It also works for her as a means of rebellion, basically to 'get back at her parents'.

However, I think that Alison should have ended up with Brian rather than Andrew. They seemed to have far more of a connection, especially when talking about friends (specifically loyalty). Even though she was all kinds of crazy, she was obviously talented (the drawing) in an unconventional way (the dandruff!). I think she just needed someone to understand her, and Brian would be more than capable of that, and being more accepting of her quirks. Also she is so care-free, which would appeal to his highly pressured life, and he is sensible and would adore her, appealing to her as she craves attention.

The only part of this film that really didn't appeal to me was Alison's makeover and pairing up with Andrew. He accepts her for her looks and nothing else, and she accepts that... it's so pathetic! She is worth so much more as who she was, though maybe sadly that's kind of the point, having to 'conform' or be lonely...

PS: This is what part of the alphabet would look like if the letters Q and R were eliminated.

I like the fact that the couples at the end are Clair and Bender and Andy and Allison. Why? Because Bender and Allison ending up with the hot/attractive rich girl and popular jock respectively shatters their outcast/rebel/basket case stereotype and elevates their high school standing.

If Brain and Allison got together at the end, come Monday morning nobody would have cared or noticed at school. However, Allison with the popular jock Andy would have everyone talking.

I really doubt that Bender and Claire stayed together long. I would even guess that the kiss was their only, and they went separate ways after that.

I doubt that Andrew and Allison would stay together for long. They bonded during a long Saturday but come Monday Andrew will be back with his friends and I don't see Allison fitting in or even being comfortable.

It bothers me that Andrew didn't pay attention to Allison until her makeover and then he was attracted to her. When Claire is no longer around to fix her up, will she continue to present herself in an attractive manner? Will Andrew give her the time of day if she isn't as perfectly made up as Claire was able to do?

Brian and Allison would be the only couple to survive real life as far as I can see.

So unfortunate that the original cast sequels, every ten years didn't happen.

That was the original plan.

By now there would have been three sequels. Just imagine how insightful and entertaining they would have been.
